"STEMMER" IS THE NORWEGIAN WORD FOR "VOICES"

"VOICES FROM ..."  is a series of seven films featuring women from different cultures who reside in Norway. 

These films give them a voice in their new home country. 

Women from Liberia, Vietnam, Somalia, Eritrea, Myanmar and Romania tell about their views on women´s roles, and how their lives have changed after moving to Norway.

Norwegian pioneer for freedom of speech for women, Camilla Collett, was our inspiration in making these films.

Through her books she inspired women in Norway to fight for their rights to speak and vote. After a long fight, Norwegian women got their right to vote in 1813.

The films are produced by Grete Salomonsen and Penelopefilm. Tone Urdal was project manager.

The filmdirectors are Tone Urdal, Kari Kleiv, Toini Berg and Solfrid Nikita T.Holand and Grete Salomonsen.

The films portray women from ROMANIA, VIETNAM, COLOMBIA, SOMALIA, LIBERIA, ERITREA and MYANMAR (BURMA) and their lives in the south of Norway. 

In these portraits we find how their lives have changed for better, or for worse. The films are meant to inspire everyone to meet the challenge of using their freedom of speech, to take charge and become directors of their own lives.
